Digger
There's this little place deep inside all of us. It's a place where reasoning and justification don't exist. It's free and pure and natural. This is the place that I like to write from. When I sit down at this computer 9 times out of 10 I have no idea what's going to come out. It all depends on what I'm feeling and how my last 24 hours have gone. I clear my mind and I focus on that little spot where the world doesn't judge and where I can fully be me. It's always a different topic and I have a really hard time putting limitations on it. Once opened, it's pure inspiration and a million images racing across my mind, wild imagination taking control and propelling my fingers around the keyboard, desperately trying to keep up.
I didn't use to be this way. I very carefully kept myself locked off and guarded from everybody. I've spent my entire life just trying to fit in. Sometimes, even now, I struggle to really relax around people. But like everything else in life, eventually we must force ourselves to step outside of our comfort zones and push ourselves to grow and find peace. Peace. It doesn't mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hardwork. Peace is the ability to be in the middle of all of these things and still feel calm in your heart.
Being invited to join this project was a gentle reminder to just let it go and let that little spot deep inside do the talking for once. I have a habit of being overly critical of myself, I believe all women have this problem. We are all so worried about our hair, our makeup, our clothes and everything else, that we don't realize we are so much harder on ourselves than anybody else could ever be. Why do we do this? Why do we insist on dressing like the women we see in magazines and movies? Why do we compare ourselves with ever other Y-Chromosone on the planet? God created us differently for a reason. Why can't we we appreciate that and accept who we are?
My goal for this newly created space is to be a reminder to all of my wonderful new friends to be confident and kind to yourself. Appreciate YOU more. We are all different, unique… individuals with our own key components that make us who we are. No matter how hard you try, you will always come across people that dislike you. It's a part of life. But don't give the criticism room to grow in your heart. Don't waste time on adults with childlike mentalities and behaviors. They should be ignored completely. We are all unique women, sisters, friends, daughters, and mothers. We are not competition. We all have different backgrounds and lives that make us see the world differently. That's the best part about it all.
I hold myself accountable for these things. For me, inspiration is about finding things that help me overcome negativity, struggle, insecurity, and doubt. Most importantly, it's about finding the strength and courage to say, "I can do this." I want to be that voice for all of you too. I want to help you just be YOU and live simply. Freely, with happiness, gratitude, and enthusiasm for your ability to shape each and every day how you choose it to be.
